Irene Whitaker Caldwell

Irene Whitaker Caldwell, 90, widow of James Willhoite and Marvin Caldwell, passed away Tuesday, June 21, 2022. She was born in Jessamine County on June 29, 1931, to the late Henry Whitaker and Carrie Boggs. She is survived by her son, William “Bill” Willhoite; granddaughter, Marlena Embry (Kenny); great-grandson, Kenneth Lee “Trey” Embry III; and great-great-grandson, John Simpson. Irene is preceded by a son, Robert Willhoite; brothers, Kenneth Whitaker, Earl Whitaker, and Henry Whitaker Jr.; and a great-granddaughter, Christian Nicole Simpson. The family also wishes to extend a very special thanks to Irene’s caretakers, Ashley Miller, Rosie Peel, and Linda Rhineheimer. Services will be at 2:00 PM, Tuesday, June 28, at Betts & West Funeral Home with Pastor Norman Colvin officiating. Burial will follow at Maple Grove Cemetery. Bearers will be Kenny Embry, Trey Embry, Tony Whitaker, Timmy Embry, Mike Garrett, and Jackie Corman. Visitation will be Monday evening from 5:00 – 8:00 PM, at the funeral home. Memorial contributions are suggested to be made to the Leukemia Foundation. Betts & West is honored to serve Irene and her family in their time of need.
