Herman Taylor

April 15, 1941 — June 2, 2022

Herman Taylor, 81, husband of Carolyn Hackney Taylor, passed away Thursday, June 2, 2022, at Baptist Health Lexington. He was born in Pike County on April 15, 1941, to the late Frank Taylor and Flora Webb Taylor. He was a tool and die maker at Bendix Commercial Vehicles, as well as a proud veteran of the United States Army. He is survived by his wife of 60 years, Carolyn Taylor; son, Robert Wayne Taylor (and special daughter-in-law, Kimberly Wright Taylor); brother, Sherman Taylor, of Lorraine, OH; sister, Juanita Mullins, of Elkhorn City, KY; special niece, Brittany Williams, and her children Madison and Maddox; many nieces and nephews whom he loved, as well as a host of other family members. He is preceded in death by brothers, Virgil Taylor, Roy Taylor, Rarah Taylor, and Lonnie Taylor; and sisters, infant Mary Taylor, Alma Justice, and Sarah Sawyers. Services will be at 1:00 PM, Wednesday, June 8, at Betts & West Funeral Home with Pastor Richard Stipe, Pastor Tommy Morrow, and Pastor Frank Layne officiating. Graveside services and military honors will follow at Camp Nelson National Cemetery. Casket bearers will be Adam Teater, Josh Teater, Wendell Davis, Ben Davis, Mark Corman, and Eugene “Tuck” Blackford. Honorary bearers will be Ronald Hackney, Dale Hackney, Sherman Taylor, Jeffrey Senters, Austin Williamson, Harold Haley, and Lillard Wright. Visitation will be Tuesday evening from 5:00 – 8:00 PM at the funeral home. Betts & West is honored to serve the Taylor family in their time of need.
