Helen Jeanne Siropolis Berke

Helen Jeanne Siropolis Berke, 87, wife of Paul Berke, died October 5, 2012 at her home in Wesley Village. She was born on July 17, 1925 to Greek immigrant parents Gus and Penelope Siropolis, in Cleveland, Ohio. She graduated from West High School in Cleveland and attended Baldwin Wallace University in Berea, Ohio, where she met and married the love of her life Paul Berke on Jan 31, 1948. In 1972, they moved to Glasgow, KY., where she was an active and faithful member of St Andrews Episcopal Church. She was also very proud of her volunteer service at TJ Sampson Community Hospital,the Red Cross and the Barren County Humane Society. She is survived by her husband, Paul, daughter Paula Lynne Damron and her husband Rep. Robert Damron, Nicholasville, son, Eric Wallace Berke and his wife Annika, Columbus, Ohio, Grandchildren Capt. Robert P. Damron USAF and his wife Amarae, Jared Berke, and Laura Berke, and Great-grandson Coltin Ben Damron. She was also preceded in death by her brother Nicholas Constantine Siropolis. Family and friends will be received at Betts & West Funeral Home, Nicholasville, KY on Tuesday, October 9, 2012 from 10 to 11 a.m. with funeral services following visitation with Reverend Sewell Woodward officiating. A private, family graveside service and burial will be held at Camp Nelson National Cemetery. Pall Bearers will be Robert Damron, Capt. Robert P. Damron, Amarae Damron, Jared Berke, Laura Berke, and Rosie Peel. Memorials are suggested to Hospice of the Bluegrass, 2312 Alexandria Dr, Lexington, KY 40509.
