Harriette Jean Martin

Harriette Jean Martin, 88, of Wilmore, Kentucky, went to be with her Lord on October 20, 2011 after an extended illness. Jean was a native of Roanoke, Virginia, and lived at Wesley Village in Wilmore since 2001. She was the daughter of the late Richard N. Hanes, Sr., and 'Peggy' Carper Hanes Kirkwood, and was preceded in death by her husband, Robert H. Martin, and her brother, Richard N. Hanes Jr.. She is survived by daughters, Carolyn Jean Beaty and husband Peter of Wilmore, KY, Linda Cheryl Wise and husband Richard of Cairo, GA, and son Robert Tucker Martin and wife Linda of Amelia Island, FL, seven grandchildren, and 16 great grandchildren. Jean is remembered for her compassionate service to others, which she demonstrated in her career as a nurse, as well as through her caring lifestyle. She was an active member of Lakeside Baptist Church in Roanoke, VA. There will be a private burial in Camp Nelson National Cemetery with her husband of 62 years.
