George William Jewell

Mr. George William Jewell, age 94, died Tuesday, August 29, 2017 at White Oak Manor in Lancaster, S.C. He was born February 16, 1923 in Woodford County, Kentucky, the son of the late Elbert Stone Jewell and Lucy Mae Hutchison Jewell and was the husband of Evelyn Hill Jewell. Mr. Jewell enjoyed gardening, farming and outdoor work. He also enjoyed watching football, basketball and baseball. He played softball when he was younger. Mr. Jewell was a song leader, deacon and Sunday school teacher at Salem Baptist Church in Southville, Kentucky. He was a current member of Covenant Baptist Church in Lancaster.
Mr. Jewell is survived by his wife of nearly 75 years, Evelyn H. Jewell; a son, Kent Jewell and his wife, Jean; a daughter-in-law, Judy Jewell; six grandchildren and sixteen great grandchildren who loved and adored their grandfather.
Mr. Jewell was preceded in death by his parents and a son, Dr. Gary W. Jewell.
The Celebration of Life Memorial Service for Mr. Jewell will be 2:00 pm, Sunday, September 3, 2017, Salem Baptist Church, in Southville, KY(Shelby County). Private family burial will be at the Wilmore Cemetery. The family suggest memorial contributions be made to The Gideon’s International Processing Center P.O.
