G. Herbert Livingston, 95, the widower of Maria G. Livingston went to be with his Lord and Savior, Jesus Christ on July 2, 2012 at home. His children, Burton, Nellie and David were with him.
Herbert was born in Russell, Iowa and grew up on a farm near Cameron, Wisconsin. He hitchhiked to South Dakota where he attended Wessington Springs College. Herb and Maria were married on August 12, 1936 and started their ministry together which continued for 72 years. Herbert graduated from Asbury Theological Seminary in 1948 and earned his doctoral degree from Drew University in NJ.
Herbert began teaching at Asbury Seminary in 1953 until his retirement in 1987. He has travelled extensively, participated in archaeological excavations in Israel and was a co-founder of Jerusalem University. Herbert helped with two revisions (the NIV and The New Living Translation) and one translation (The New King James) of the Bible. Herbert and Maria helped found the Wilmore Free Methodist Church. Herb had authored many books and articles and just recently completed he and Maria family memoirs, 'Walking Together Through Life'. This book is available in the Wilmore Free Methodist church office or through Amazon.com.
Herbert's parents, four brothers and two sisters preceded him to Heaven. He has one surviving sister, Dorothy Johnson. Herbert also has eight grandchildren, ten great grandchildren and one great-great grandchild due in December.
