Essie Starnes Jewell, 82, widow of William Gerald Jewell, died Thursday September 24, 2009. Essie was born June 1, 1928 in Lincoln County to the late Thomas and Maude Martin Starnes. Survivors are four children, Rita Jewell of Versailles, Gerald Jewell of Wilmore, Teresa (Terry) Lowry of Harrodsburg and Jeff (Cindy) Jewell of Versailles, three grandchildren, Stevie Jewell and Tara Lowry of Harrodsburg and Josh Jewell of Versailles, two great grandchildren, Lorn and William Jewell of Versailles, a sister, Roberta (Danny) Anderson of Nicholasville, a step brother, Eugene Powers of Lancaster, a special niece, Rena Cromer of Nicholasville and other family members. Graveside services will be 10 am Monday in Wilmore Cemetery with Leonard Fitch officiating. Bearers will be Jeff, Stevie, Gerald, Josh and William Jewell and Tommy Bartlett.
