orothy Earl Conley Dozier, 92, died Monday, July 30, 2018 in Lexington, Kentucky. She was born in Franklin County, Kentucky near Peaks Mill on November 2, 1925 to the late P.H. Conley and Pearl Birchfield Conley. Dorothy attended Peaks Mill School, grades 1-12 and graduated in 1944 and attended Eastern Kentucky University for 2 years. She married Claude Russell Dozier from Harlan County while they were both at Eastern and had 55 wonderful years before his death in 2001. She taught for 11 years before earning a B.A. degree from Union College by attending Saturday classes and taking correspondence courses before graduating in 1963. She taught for 15 years at Evarts Elementary in Harlan County before moving to Seminole, Florida where she worked for 14 years at Lawton Elementary before retiring in 1982. Survivors include a daughter, Claudia Dozier Smith and her husband Dennis Smith, two grandsons, Claude (Toni) Michael Smith and Bradley Hampton Smith, three great grandsons, Samuel Smith, Trey Smith and Lukas Smith and one great granddaughter, Vivian Grace Smith. She was preceded in death by a brother, Dan Conley and a sister, Ruth Conley Wright. Services will be 11:00 AM, Thursday at Betts & West Funeral Home with Pastor Jason Price officiating. Interment will be in Bluegrass Memorial Gardens. Bearers will be Mike Smith, Brad Smith, Eric Smith, Bobby Smith, Todd Smith and Travis Smith.
