Donald Wayne Johns

Donald Wayne Johns, 87, husband of Ruth Agnes Williams Johns, passed away on Monday, January 1, 2024, at the University of Kentucky Hospital. He was born in Jessamine County, Kentucky on September 5, 1936, to the late Elmer Johns and Dallas Reynolds Johns. Wayne was a Minister at Trinity Community Church in Jessamine County and retired from IBM in Lexington, Kentucky where he worked as an engineer. He was also a United States Army Veteran. Wayne loved reading, spending time in the woods, and woodcutting. In addition to his wife, he is survived by a son, Gary (Cheri) Johns, a daughter, Debbie (Tim) Engler, and nine grandchildren, Christie Engler, Matthew Engler, Bethany Engler, Caleb Engler, Anna Engler, Justin Engler, Zachary (Annabelle) Johns, Julie (Jonathan) Chan, and Alaina Johns. He was preceded in death by two brothers, David Johns and Billy Joe Johns. Services will be at 12:00 PM, Thursday, January 4, 2024, at Betts & West Funeral Home with Rev. Troy Morrison officiating. A burial will follow in the Camp Nelson National Cemetery. Bearers will be Matthew Engler, Caleb Engler, Justin Engler, Zachary Johns, Nick Peel, and Ronnie Peel. Visitation will be from 10:00 AM to 12:00 PM, Thursday, January 4, 2024, at Betts & West Funeral Home. Online guestbook at www.BettsandWestfuneralhome.com.
