Atwood "Buddy" Vanarsdell Hurt Jr.

Atwood -Buddy- Vanarsdell Hurt Jr., 65, husband of Patricia Ann Kerns Hurt, died Wednesday, September 9, 2009 at his home. Buddy was born July 1, 1944 in Mercer County to the late Atwood Vanarsdell Hurt Sr. and Velma Louise Halfhill Hurt. He was a farmer, member of Clover Bottom Baptist Church and Nonesuch Volunteer Fire Department for over 30 years. Additional survivors are two sons, Buddy Lee (Margaret) Hurt of WV, Douglas Atwood (Kristie) Hurt of Lexington, step daughter, Susie McClure of Crab Orchard, step son, Bobby McClure of Wilmore, six grandchildren, Caleb and Laykin Hurt of WV, Kaitlin and Lauren Hurt of Lexington, Cheyenne McClure and Faith Brock of Crab Orchard, one sister, Norma (Sheridan) Flora of Versailles and other family members. Services will be 1:00 pm Saturday at Betts & West Funeral Home with Rev Joel Braswell and Bro. Terry Tench officiating with burial to follow in Wilmore Cemetery. Visitation will be from 4:00 until 8:00 pm Friday at the funeral home. Bearers will be Bobby Louis McClure, Roger and Ron White, Johnny Benedict, Johnny Halderman, Dick Chapman and Sheridan Flora. Honorary bearers will be the Nonesuch Volunteer Fire Department.
