Alonza Green "A.G." Canter

March 31, 1926 — May 24, 2009

Alonza Green -A.G.- Canter, 83, husband of 64 years to Ida Ruth Montgomery Canter, of Sugar Creek Pike, died May 24, 2009 at his home. He was a lifelong farmer, an Elder and Superintendent at Little Hickman Christian Church and a member of the Jessamine Co. Beef Cattle Association. He was the happiest when on his tractor, driving a team of horses or playing his mandolin. He was a native of Jessamine County, son of the late Lee and Beulah Green Canter. Additional survivors include his children, Ida Gayle (Brad) Teater, David Canter and his friend, Linda S. Anderson, Rebecca C. (Mike) Hilterbran, six grandchildren, Greg (Michelle) Teater, Vanessa Canter, Crystie (Matt) Young, Sherri (Tim) Trainer, Alan (Sarah) Canter, Leslee (Richie) Horn, eleven great grandchildren, three sisters, Virginia (Vernon) Montgomery, Marjorie (Buddy) Carter, Mary Belle (Harry) Montgomery, a brother in law, John Nickell, a sister in law, Faye Canter, a daughter in law, Kay Canter, numerous other relatives. He was preceded in death by a daughter, Wanda Carol Canter, sisters, Dorothy Lee Canter, Mildred Vickers and Ruth Nickell, a brother, Edmond Canter, three nephews, Gary and Marvin Canter and Daryl Montgomery. Services will be 1:30pm Friday at Betts & West Funeral Home. Burial will follow in the Maple Grove Cemetery. Visitation will be from 1-8pm Thursday. Bearers will be Greg Teater, Alan Canter, Austin Trainer, David Bain, John Nickell, Charles Hager, Lowell Duncan and Elgan -Pud- Bruner. Honorary bearers will be J.W. Trainer, all of his nieces and nephews, Elders and Deacons of Little Hickman Christian Church, Larry Lewis, Charles Miller, Harold Waits, John Teater, John B.
